GILLES BERNARD 

The current formation of Gilles Bernard's quartet exists since 2014. He is the only composer. Since then, his new quartet has already appeared in several major events such as the International Jazz Festival of Quebec in double concert with the Ellis Marsalis quartet, the International Jazz Festival of Montreal and the Quebec Summer Festival in concert at Théâtre Petit-Champlain. They perform regularly every year in the renowned Quebec jazz bar Le Bar Ste-Angèle. "Frequency 119" is the band's second album. It is composed of Pierre Coté, one of the best jazz bassist in Quebec. Accomplice of Gilles Bernard for more than 40 years, he provides the experience and assurance often characterizing the masters. To these old hands join two young and talented musicians, saxophonist Thiago Ferté and drummer Louis-Vincent Hamel, whose audacity and creativity color this album. And finally pianist Gilles Bernard, with his rich compositions, great sensitivity and magical execution that give this work all its meaning. This opus proves right all those who consider Gilles Bernard as one of the best jazz pianist of his generation.
